For many families, a quarter beef section serves as a perfect starting point. It offers a manageable amount of meat, both in terms of quantity and cost, making it a popular choice for young families. Likewise, it’s perfect for a big freezer! With an average yield of approximately 125 lbs, a quarter beef section can comfortably feed a family of 2-4 for up to 6 months.

If you’ve got teenagers—especially hungry teenage boys—this is the perfect option for your family. A side of beef has more than enough to satisfy your crew, plus any friends who often show up at dinnertime. On average, you can expect around 70 lbs of ground beef, 60 steaks, 16 roasts, and a variety of other cuts like kebabs and brisket. However, everything is custom processed whether that means more burgers, more roast, etc. With an estimated take-home yield of 248 lbs, a side of beef is well-suited to feed an active family of 4-6 for up to 6 months.

Whole Beef

Wow, that’s a serious amount of beef! A whole beef section is ideal for groups like co-workers, neighbors, extended families, or church communities who want to share a wide variety of high-quality cuts. With two halves, you get double the options for customization. For example, you can choose Rib-Eye Steaks from one rib section and Prime Rib Roasts from the other. The short loin from one half can be used for T-Bone and Porterhouse Steaks, while the other half can provide NY Strips and Filets. It’s all about variety—and there’s plenty to go around! If you keep it all for your household, a whole beef section can feed a family of 6-8 for up to a year.
